The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series has launched an interactive Facebook game titled Fantasy Lumberjack in anticipation of the 2013 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Season. If you think you're good at Fantasy Football and Baseball, then you'll have to try your hand at this game. Manage a team of athletes and chop along with the pro's directly from your keyboard.

Fantasy Lumberjack is simple, easy to play and is certainly addicting.

A big YO HO to Jim Rasmussen for this fantastic photo of Tyler Rothe in the springboard chop event.  Jim cheered on the Dawson Creek camp during his visit to The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show and got many great shots.  This one was a true standout and we want to express our heartfelt thanks to him for sharing his talents with us!  This photo will be featured in our 2014 Lumberjack Calendar which will be on sale during our 2013 season - perfect

Congratulations and a big YO HO to our guest, Wendy Williams from Ohio who won our 2012 STIHL drawing.  Her name was chosen from over 7500 entries into our annual contest and Wendy plans to use her $250 gift certificate to get some new STIHL lawn and garden projects. 

Wendy and her husband visited us in June aboard the Carnival Spirit and plan to return to Alaska very soon.  "It was the most amazing vacation of our lives and we just loved The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show!"  Thank you Wendy and we look forward to seeing you again really soon!

Derek Knutson returned to defend his crown as the Alaska IRONJACK Champion and did just that by a thin margin over Jake Justus who took 2nd.

The competition was close for all competitors with dark horse and local favorite, Andy Colle, taking 4th place after being out of the sport for an entire year.  Tyler Rothe took the third place seat which is how he ended his 2011 attempt.  Placing 5th was 19 year old Michael Hattershide who was happy to rise up the ranks from last years finish of 7th place.  Hattershide received a perfect score of 15 in the axe throw and placed 2nd in the speed climb event behind veteran climber Knutson.  In 6th position was newcomer Mark Bouquin who showed amazing potential for future competitions.  In 7th, Rookie of the Year, Peter Lucas made a good showing.  8th place was taken by Ray Geist, 9th by Craig Bradshaw and rounding out the field in 10th was newcomer Jesse Hrycik. 

Derek Knutson, pictured left, was the 2012 champion, assisted by his amazing speed climbing time of 12.22 seconds.

We have just begun our lucky 13th season here at The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show and it looks to be our best year yet!  The community show was a rousing success with over 500 in attendance and the grandstands have been filled every day since with cheering fans.  This season we are looking forward to an exciting Alaska IRONJACK Championships on July 4th with new young competitors as well as some seasoned pros.   You don't want to miss a minute of the action - YO HO!

A big YO HO to our very own Jill Gates for winning the 2012 Spirit of Alaska award at this years Ketchikan Visitors Bureau awards banquet.  This award is voted on by peers to nominate a person or company that shows true kindness, friendliness and professionalism when dealing with our Alaskan visitors.  Jill has also won the Princess Cruise Lines Shore Excursion Representative of the year for the last 5 years!  An amazing acheivement!  We are so proud of her!

The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show hosted the 2011 Alaska IRONJACK Championships on July 4th.  Despite rain and winds gusting to 50 mph, competitors put their skills to the test in 6 events.
